ENGINEERING THE CONNECTIONRigid • Flexible • Integrated

Rigid Flex PCB for Telecom & Networking

Coordinate high-speed signal paths, grounding and thermal packaging across multiple board regions.

Application context

Compact communication modules can require several rigid circuit areas arranged around an enclosure. Integrated flexible spans may simplify packaging, but they introduce region-specific electrical and mechanical requirements.

Requirements to define

Review impedance targets, return paths, shielding, connector interfaces and thermal constraints. Use the actual proposed stackup in simulations, and account for transitions between rigid and flexible regions.

Evidence to request

Define coupon measurement, prototype signal testing and the necessary environmental validation. An impedance test on a coupon does not independently validate the complete high-speed channel.

Prepare your project review

Submit the board outline, region-specific stackup, bend diagram, fabrication data, quantity and required timing. Identify the part revision and mark preliminary information. Include the application-specific acceptance requirements so engineering and purchasing evaluate the same scope.
